The goal of the Angola Hornet Football program is for our players to be the most successful people they can be in their lives.  We want them to be more successful for having been in our program.  We want them to develop positive thoughts, habits, and priorities that will allow them to do the right thing.  We want them to maximize their individual talent to be the best player they can be.  Our job as educators and as coaches, is to help our players be the best person, best student, best teammate, and best athlete they can be.

Andy Thomas, Head Coach

Andy Thomas is entering his 10th season as the Hornet’s Head Football Coach and 30th year coaching football.  Coach Thomas oversees the strength and agility program at Angola High School. He is a 1989 graduate of Mishawaka High School where he played football and baseball.  Coach Thomas continued his football career at Manchester University, graduating in 1993.  He was an Assistant Coach at Warsaw High School from 1994 to 1997, and Garrett High School in 1998 and 1999.  Coach Thomas was the Head Football Coach at Garrett from 2000 to 2005 and Culver Community from 2006 through 2013.  He enjoys reading, physical fitness, and spending time with family.  Coach Thomas and his wife Beth have two daughters, Kylie 21 and Kelsie 20, and one son, Alex 15.

Matt Call, Assistant Coach

Matt Call is entering his 7th season on the Hornet’s football staff.  He will be working with the Defensive Backs.  
He is a 2000 graduate of Angola High School where he played football.  Coach Call works as the Director of Operations at Custom Bottling & Packaging in Ashley, Indiana.  He and his wife Kelli have 3 children, Donna 26, Tyler 19, and Lindsey 19 along with 2 grandchildren, Charlie 5 and Bristol 3.

Mike Duke, Assistant Coach

Mike Duke is entering his second season with the Angola Football staff.  He will be working with Inside Linebackers and Running Backs.

Myles Geary, Assistant Coach

Myles Geary is entering his eighth season on the Hornet’s football staff.  Coach Geary will be coaching the Offensive and Defensive Lines.  Coach Geary was the Girl’s Head Soccer Coach at Kokomo High School from 1997 to 2012.  Coach Geary also coached offensive line and kickers at Kokomo and was heavily involved at the youth level as coach and referee.  Coach Geary is an I.H.S.A.A. licensed official in football and soccer.  He works at Vestil Manufacturing as the product photographer.  Coach Geary spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy and served in Desert Storm. He and his wife Denise each have a son, Turner 28 and Jordan 18.

Curt Hasselman, Assistant Coach

Curt Hasselman is entering his 2nd season on the Hornet’s football staff. 
Coach Hasselman will be working with the Freshmen Defense.

Norm King, Assistant Coach

Norm King is entering his tenth year with the Hornets.  Coach King works with the Offensive Line and Inside Linebackers.  He is a 1993 graduate of Angola High School where he played football.  Upon graduation, Coach King spent 5 years in the Army on active duty
and continues to serve as a CSM in the Indiana Army National Guard.  In his civilian career, he works as a Plant Manager for DRV Luxury Suites in Howe, Indiana.  Coach King began his varsity coaching career at Prairie Heights in 2010.  He and his wife Amber have 3 children, Reed 30, Alexis 25, and Kendall 20.

Charlie Lanam, Assistant Coach

Charlie Lanam is entering his fifth season on the Hornet’s football staff. Coach Lanam will be working with the Outside Linebackers. He is also a teacher at Angola High School and wrestling coach at Angola Middle School. Coach Lanam is a 2016 graduate of Angola High School where he played football and wrestled. He continued his wrestling career at Ancilla Junior College. Coach Lanam is a Trine University graduate.

Roger Roddy, Assistant Coach

Roger Roddy is entering his 17th season as an Assistant Football Coach for the Hornets.  Coach Roddy coaches Wide Receivers.  Coach Roddy is a 1983 graduate of Angola High School.  He participated in football, basketball, and baseball at Angola.  He is a graduate of Georgia Tech University and also played baseball for the Yellow Jackets for four years.  Coach Roddy has two sons, Jacob 25 and Chance 22.

Russ Tingley, Assistant Coach

Russ Tingley is beginning his 15th year as a member of the Angola football coaching staff. Coach Tingley coaches Running Backs.  He is also the Head Wrestling Coach at Angola High School.  Coach Tingley and his wife Christy have two sons Grant 26, and Brock 22.

Cody Wertz, Assistant Coach

Coach Wertz is entering is 1st year on the Angola Football coaching staff.  He played football, baseball, basketball and wrestled for Hillsdale High School.  Coach Wertz served in the army for 8 years and now works for Steuben County.  He coached defensive line and linebackers in Bamberg, Germany 2009-2011 and defensive line in Waynesville, MO in 2012.  Coach Wertz and his wife Lakeisha have 2 children, Eli 6 and Monroe 3.
